The National Service Inclusion Project, a Corporation for National and Community Service Training and Technical Assistance Provider, is pleased to announce a three-day National Disability Inclusion Trainer Development Institute and an Advanced Capacity Building Institute.
The 2009 Serve America Act calls for a dramatic expansion of new service and volunteer opportunities for all Americans. This intensive training will enhance our capacity to recruit, support, and retain members and volunteers with disabilities in Senior Corps, AmeriCorps, and Learn and Serve America programs with an emphasis on how we will work together.
Both institutes welcome members from national and community service programs and nonprofits assisted by the Corporation including Senior Corps, AmeriCorps, and Learn and Serve America. In order to enhance the capacity of all service and volunteer programs and nonprofits to fully include individuals with all abilities as members and volunteers, we will conduct two training institutes.
Please read the following descriptions and register for the institute that best meets your needs:
The Trainer Development Institute will target individuals who have basic knowledge of disability inclusion. Participants will strengthen their overall understanding of disability inclusion in the service and volunteer environment and acquire the tools and methodology to effectively transfer this information to program staff, volunteers and service members.
The Advanced Capacity Building Institute is designed for graduates of the Trainer Development Institute and for those who have a strong working knowledge of inclusion in a service and volunteer environment. This advanced level institute will strengthen the capacity of CNCS grantees to manage and implement service infrastructures that promote, recruit, supervise, accommodate and support fully inclusive service environments. Participants will work together to develop strategies to achieve the vision of the Serve America Act by examining practices, policies and procedures, and identifying those that will strengthen collaborations among national service programs, and the public, nonprofit and private sectors, towards the goal of full inclusion. Participants will be challenged to remain on the forefront of organizational capacity building by examining emerging trends, policies and traditionally untapped resources.

The main factor for the site selection was that the hotel and conference center offer accessible facilities and a large number of accessible guest rooms. We also decided to support Gulf Coast locations because of the economic issues caused by the oil spill. Finally, the Beau Rivage offers a comprehensive package that is cost effective for both grantees and the organizers.
Important Notes:
Secure your reservation before November 19, 2010
If you have any questions or experience any difficulties, please contact NSIP staff at NSIP@umb.edu or call toll-free: 888-491-0326 (voice/TTY).
